  • The PFIWestern.com Invitational, presented by Bass Pro Shop, is the first three-night event of the second half, meaning even more crucial world standings points will be on the line.
  • J.W. Harris won in Springfield last season but will not be able to defend his title because of a season-ending injury.
  • Meanwhile, current world leader Cooper Davis will try and hold off Kaique Pacheco who is hot on his heels.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Cooper Davis will be competing in his first event as the top bull rider atop the PBR World Standings. Davis became the world’s No. 1 bull rider last weekend and will be looking to continue his hot streak in Springfield at the PFIWestern.com Invitational at JQH Arena on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 9-11. The PBR’s 9th 15/15 Bucking Battle will be broadcast on CBS on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. ET while Round 3 and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round will be aired on CBS Sports Network on Sunday at 8:00 p.m. ET.

NEW NO. 1 – Cooper Davis continues his hot streak as the second-year cowboy became the top bull rider in the world last weekend in Thackerville, Oklahoma. Davis has ridden eight of his last 13 bulls, winning back-to-back events and leads Kaique Pacheco by just 19.67 points in the world standings. Davis earned the highest ranking of his career after Round 1 in Thackerville and has become the hottest rider on tour since the beginning of the second half.

ANYONE’S CHAMPIONSHIP – Just a little over 1,000 points separate the Top-5 in the PBR world standings. Joao Ricardo Vieira is currently No. 5 in the standings with 2,495 points, 1,072.50 points behind No. 1 Davis. With 900 possible points on the line, Springfield will have huge implications on the world championship race.   

WINNING WAYS – There have been 13 different event winners through 20 events already this season. Six athletes -- Fabiano Vieira, Shane Proctor, Tanner Byrne, Ryan Dirteater, Kaique Pacheco and Cooper Davis --have won multiple events. With only seven events left until a world champion is crowned at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on November 2-6, riders will be giving it their all in Springfield.

PAST SPRINGFIELD EVENT WINNERS – In 2015 J.W. Harris took over $45,050 for the event win in Springfield. He went 3-for-4 on the weekend placing second in Round 1 and won the championship round. Past winners in Springfield include:

2016 15/15 BUCKING BATTLE SCHEDULE AND RESULTS - Each 15/15 Bucking Battle features the Top 15 riders in the world competing against the 15 highest-ranked bulls at the event for extra bonus points and an additional purse of $21,000.

BOUNTY BULL – This weekend in Springfield the winner of Round 1 will have a chance to ride bounty bull 79 Bootdaddy.com of J.A.R.S Bucking Bulls/Gene Owen. If it results in a qualified ride that rider will receive a $5,000 bonus.

FORMAT – This weekend, the riders will face one bull each in Round 1, Round 2 and Round 3. Immediately following Round 3 on Sunday, the riders’ individual scores will be totaled and the Top 15 will advance to the Built Ford Tough Championship Round for one more ride and a chance at the $30,000 event title.

POSSIBLE POINTS – There are 900 possible points available this weekend in Springfield, as the winner of the event will receive 500 points and each of the three round wins is worth 100 points.

TELEVISION BROADCAST – This week the 15/15 Bucking Battle will be broadcast on CBS Sports on Sunday September 4 at 3:00 PM ET while Round 2 and the championship round of the Winstar World Casino and Resort Invitational will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network on Sunday beginning at 8:00 PM ET.

BUCKING INTO CHARLOTTE – Next week the Built Ford Tough Series will travel to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the second consecutive year, ninth year overall for the Charlotte Invitational. The two day event will be on Friday, September 16 at 8 PM CT and Saturday, September 17 at 7:00 PM CT.
